About the Figure Skating Club of Madison
The Figure Skating Club of Madison (FSCM) was founded on December 2, 1963 as a non-profit corporation by a group of parents dedicated to promoting the sport of figure skating. In May, 1964 the FSCM was granted full US Figure Skating Members Club status. U.S. Figure Skating (USFS) is the national governing body in the sport of figure skating on ice as recognized by the United States Olympic Committee and serves as the United States member of the International Skating Union (ISU). The mission of USFS is to provide programs to encourage participation and achievement in the sport of figure skating on ice. USFS provides our club with a governing structure and resources to help make your skating experience as productive and enjoyable as possible.
Currently, the FSCM has over 172 members, including over 13 teaching professionals, and contracts over 500 hours of ice time per year. Our home rinks are Madison Ice Arena and Hartmeyer Ice Arena which are owned by Madison Ice, Inc. The club hosts an annual USFSA sanctioned competition, The Madison Open, in the fall and typically offers an exhibition event on Martin Luther King Day, an Ice Show in the spring, and at least two annual test sessions. The FSCM has no paid employees – only volunteers dedicated to making it possible for skaters to participate in the sport.
