About the Figure Skating Club of Madison
The Figure Skating Club of Madison (FSCM) was founded on December 2, 1963 as a non-profit corporation by a group of parents dedicated to promoting the sport of figure skating. In May, 1964 the FSCM was granted full US Figure Skating Members Club status. U.S. Figure Skating (USFS) is the national governing body in the sport of figure skating on ice as recognized by the United States Olympic Committee and serves as the United States member of the International Skating Union (ISU). The mission of USFS is to provide programs to encourage participation and achievement in the sport of figure skating on ice. USFS provides our club with a governing structure and resources to help make your skating experience as productive and enjoyable as possible.
Currently, FSCM has over 172 members, including over 13 teaching professionals, and contracts over 500 hours of ice time per year. Our home ice facilities include Madison Ice Arena managed by Madison Ice, Inc. and Hartmeyer Ice Arena, managed by the East Madison Ice Collective. FSCM hosts two USFSA sanctioned competitions annually - the Madison Open and the Badger Classic as well as an annual Ice Show in the spring, in-person and virtual test sessions, and a number of exhibitions throughout the year. FSCM has no paid employees – only volunteers dedicated to making it possible for skaters to participate in the sport
